Start with the product, the handling process and the outer carton. These practical notes help you prepare a packaging brief for Hongsen.
1. Define the protection your product needs
Record the product length, width, height and weight. Identify surfaces that can scratch, corners that may chip, projecting parts and areas that should not carry a load. Explain whether the package will be moved by hand, sent as an individual parcel or stacked on a pallet. Photos of the product and its current packaging make the discussion clearer.
2. Match the material to the task
EPE rolls, sheets and bags provide cushioning and surface separation. Shaped EPE profiles cover edges, while inserts and blocks can support an item inside a carton. Bubble wrap is useful for wrapping irregular items; air columns and inflatable pillows offer other cushioning and void-filling formats. Stretch film helps bundle or secure an outer load. The suitable specification depends on the product and packing method.
3. Prepare a custom foam drawing
Show overall dimensions, openings, recesses and the position of each product part. Include the proposed outer carton dimensions and any clearance needed to insert or remove the product. Confirm material, thickness, fit and tolerances with the supplier. When dimensions are difficult to describe, a sample can help establish the required shape.
4. Select egg trays and fruit protection
Choose the tray layout around the egg size and packing count. Hongsen supplies chicken egg tray formats from 10 to 100 positions and duck egg tray formats from 10 to 60 positions, as well as goose and quail egg trays. Check that the selected tray suits both the contents and the outer package. Fruit net sleeves and trays should be matched to fruit size and the handling arrangement.
5. Check a sample with the actual product
Evaluate how the item sits in the package, whether important surfaces remain separated, and whether the carton closes correctly. Review loading, removal, stacking and the expected transport handling. Agree on any required tests before production. A material name alone does not establish the performance of the finished package.
6. Send a complete inquiry
Include product photos or drawings, dimensions, weight, requested quantity, delivery destination and desired timing. Mention any special color, lamination, printing, inspection or documentation needs. Sample arrangements, minimum order quantity and lead time are confirmed for the specific order.
